A Word Game
Michael Chabon's astonishing vocabulary, displayed in The Amazing
Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, provided the impetus for this game.
Fifty-four words culled from ...Kavalier... appear in an alphabetical
word list. (Thank you Amy, Krista, and Shaundra for your lists.)
Their definitions are numbered and sorted  in a different order
on separate pages. The object of the game is to place the correct
definition number beside each vocabulary word in the word list.

Individuals or teams can play.  Each team (or each individual) should
receive a print-out of the word list and a print-out of the definitions, as
well as a black pen for marking definition numbers and a red pen for
scoring correct choices. Set a time limit (as few as fifteen minutes or
as much as one hour suggested). For the most enjoyable game, only
the first two of the following four web pages, entitled "Word List" and
"Definitions," should be viewed and printed prior to playing. After
playing, print the "Scoring Key" page. Use it to see how well you did in
the game. Review the "Sources and Research" page after scoring your
efforts. Of course, the winning person or team should be awarded
a golden key!
